Cupro Line

Cupro Line

Cupro is also called «vegan silk» and is now known under the brand name Bemberg. It is a biodegradable textile fiber that is considered an environmentally friendly alternative to viscose. It is made from the cottonseed fibers that are too short for cotton production and would therefore be discarded.

In the past, the production of cupro caused great environmental damage, as it required copper, ammonia and diluted sulfuric acid. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. Our Japanese supplier, Asahi Kasei, is the only manufacturer in the world that uses the chemicals as well as the water in a closed loop so as not to cause any toxic environmental impact as well as damage to health. Our Italian supplier processes the fibers into a fabric that is characterized by its unique silky feel.

Like all our products, Cupro Line garments are fairly produced in a small family business in Bulgaria. Learn more about our production facility here.
